[Preview] Coconino Campout: Peace Love and Wubz Under the Ponderosa Sky

Coconino Campout, a new three-day camping festival, is bringing the heat with their bassy lineup – it’s shaping up to be a super special event that’s not one to miss

Our favorite cosmic soundweaver LSDREAM is the headliner for Friday. He’ll be bringing the PEACE LOVE & WUBZ to kick the weekend off right! If you haven’t heard his new album HEARTWAVE, you need to take a listen! We’ve had it on repeat since it was released in May. His new collab song with Inzo, “Faceplant on the Galaxy”, is also worth a listen – and you can safely bet we’ll hear at least one new LSZEE tune (LSDREAM & CloZee collab project) at Coconino. LSDREAM is an expert at weaving together the most beautiful melodic vibes with the dirtiest wubz and we can’t wait for this headline set! From getting down with the earthly fungus to riding around on an intergalactic journey LSDream will have you wondering in the morning woah did that actually happen?

Next up on Saturday we’ll be able to start the day by getting grounded and connected in ambient bliss during a special Lightcode sound healing set from LSDREAM. We had the chance to experience Lightcode at Electric Forest and left feeling charged up and ready to tackle the world. Then later that night we will be treated to a headlining set from Queen CloZee! If you haven’t caught her recently she has been absolutely on fire with her unique blend of dancey bass, spiritual flows, and world rhythms. Her 2023 Microworlds album has so many great tracks that always make our hearts so full and we can’t wait to hear some of them live again! We’re sure we’ll get another LSZEE drop too during CloZee’s set. Every time we see CloZee we swear it’s the best set we’ve heard from her, she has been skyrocketing to the top of the bass music universe and taking us all with her!

Finally Sunday will be headlined by the one and only drippiest bass master, Liquid Stranger. Owner of Wakaan, Liquid Stranger has amassed a huge, loyal following of Wakaan fam – we all have become addicted to his strange, mind-melting sounds and expansive, healing vibrations! His set will definitely be a perfect, super special way to close out the fest filled with wonky beats that keep slithering into the next.

In addition to the three incredible headliners, the Coconino Campout lineup boasts a variety of amazing artists, including one of our favorite producers G Jones. If you’ve never seen a G Jones set it’s what you would imagine a Windows 95 computer to sound like when going through a defragmentation. His layering is next level with it not uncommon for his sound layers to be so deep you’d swear you reached the depths of hell and are dancing with the devil. While G Jones is more known for his hardstyle acid house beats he’s got a softer side as well one minute you’ll be do deep in the beats then the next your floating in the ether.

While it’s hard to pick out favorites from such an all-around stellar lineup, there are a few artists that deserve highlighting. A Hundred Drums is a quickly rising name in the bass music world, known for her high-energy, cutting-edge sets. And she deserves extra props for being woman of color in EDM, leading the way for more diversity in the scene. We’re also excited to see two of our other favorite female artists at Coconio – Zingara and Canabliss. Zingara is a gem who has been selling out her headlining shows and who released her first full album, Code of Dreamz, this June. The album is about following your dreams, both subconscious and aspirational, and we’ve had it on repeat! We’re also super obsessed with her single Manifest that came out in February as well as her flip of Uprising by Muse that she’s been playing. Canabliss hails from Toronto and is a multidisciplinary artist whose experience in photography and digital art inspires her music and helps her create an immersive experience for every show. Her 2022 EP Plasma was released with Wakaan and she recently sold out her first Denver headline at Cervantes in February. We were lucky enough to catch her at Shambhala last year and are looking forward to seeing her at Coconino again!

Finally we’re super excited to see Truth, a new Zealand dubstep duo who runs the Deep Dark & Dangerous label and creates the dirtiest wubbiest sounds. Tape B, whose 2023 EP Over Saturated was released on Deadbeats, will also bring some all encompassing powerful basslines along with the best OG hip-hop remixes. Detox Unit brings the best glitch hop you can find, blending everything from heavy bass to hip hop to funky good vibes so there’s something for anyone. We’re convinced he will be Tipper’s successor! And Lumasi’s new single Lower featuring ProbCause is one we can’t stop listening to because the wubs and the rhymes are just too good!

The full lineup includes Daily Bread; Chmura b2b Molokai; Secret Recipe; Grackle Beats b2b Mastuh, Yewz b2b Myrtle, and more. We’re amped up and ready for the b2b sets but equally as excited to get down to special sunset sets performed by Desert Dwellers, Sunsquabi, and The Widdler each night respectively!

All in all this is a lineup that really can’t be beat, and it’s all happening in a super special venue. We attended GRiZ’s festival Ursa Major at this location in September 2023 and it was one of the best & most memorable festival camping experiences we’ve had, with campgrounds under picturesque ponderosa pines and gorgeous views of the stars. The weather was perfect at this time of year, with warm & sunny days and cool nights. We can’t wait to be back! Grab your tickets now before they sell out and let’s get ready to dance the night away.
